Introduction to Group Dynamics and Facilitation
Communication
An invaluable and practical workshop to understand and manage group dynamics
Group working is a vital part of achieving results in today s organisations. Whether you re a leader, manager, specialist or consultant creating the conditions for people to work together, at their best, is an essential part of the role. One example is quality decision making in a group. A group with low trust and little interpersonal understanding is unlikely to explore all the different views and unable be able to reach a genuine consensus.
About the workshop
In this practical workshop we will inquire and explore what happens below the surface in groups so we might better understand, and work with group dynamics. The learning process will primarily focus on what experientially unfolds as we explore what is happening in the group as it happens this will give participants a live and real experience of exploring group dynamics.
During the day we will work in a person-centred way where people decide for themselves how much they join in any given activity and take responsibility for their decisions. This experiential approach to learning and exploration requires a degree of openness to feelings and experimentation.
This workshop can be delivered via an open course or in-company programme. The next open event in the UK is scheduled for Tuesday 30th October 2007 at a cost of 375.00 VAT per delegate

Introduction to Group Dynamics and Facilitation
During the day we will work in a person-centred way where people decide for themselves how much they join in any given activity and take responsibility for their decisions. This experiential approach to learning and exploration requires a degree of openness to feelings and experimentation. As such, the day will be tailored to the needs of the group. Likely areas we will cover include:
What is group dynamics
The role of a facilitator and different styles of facilitation / working with groups
How to focus on the process of how people work together to achieve a task
potential barriers to achieving group results
How to intervene to improve the effectiveness of the group
The workshop will include models of group dynamics and group facilitation, group exercises, facilitation practice with feedback and guidance.
Benefits delegates will leave having:
a deeper understanding of group dynamics
an appreciation of how a facilitative style will help increase their effectiveness
learned a range of approaches that are useful in developing their facilitative style
Who should attend - This is an ideal introduction for leaders, managers, specialists, advisors and consultants who wish to develop their appreciation of group dynamics and enhance their facilitation style.
Trainer - David Bamber Pearlcatchers Ltd
David transforms the way people co-operate and perform at work. He works with a broad range of clients including pharmaceutical manufacturers, human rights charities and professional individuals. As a trained and very experienced group facilitator he enables teams, from the shop floor to senior management, to become more effective. He applies Gestalt and Humanistic principles to coaching, training and large-scale business change. By releasing the inherent potential of individuals, groups and organisations, he creates the opportunity for real change.
