Crucial Conversation - personal effectivenss and communication skills

Communication
Training Provided by Pearlcatchers Ltd Learn how to maintain effective working relationships by
tackling those difficult conversations promptly and confidently

Every day, most people communicate easily with lots of people. But every so often we are faced with a difficult conversation where it is essential to get it right . This might be dealing with an under-performing employee, asking for a pay rise or resolving conflict with a colleague.

All too often, we fail to achieve our objectives in these conversations, not because we use the wrong words to express our desires, but because we unconsciously send negative signals to other people. In other words it s not what you say, but the way that you say it. Behaviourists have known of this phenomenon for decades but its implications in the business world have rarely been dealt with in a practical, problem-solving manner.

The aim of this workshop is to explore the human side of these interactions and then give delegates the opportunity to practice, in a safe environment, the difficult conversations that need to happen in the workplace.

This workshop can be run as an open course or in-company programme. The next open event in the UK is on Thursday 22nd November 2007 at a cost of 375.00 VAT per delegate

The afternoon will give delegates the opportunity to use what they have learned during the morning. We will use a technique called forum drama where two professional actors represent both parties during a series of crucial conversations , which may relate to real life scenarios that delegates are facing. Delegates will then be asked to coach the actors, who will take their input and replay the situations again.

This approach both takes away the fear that many delegates have of performing in front of colleagues and enables them to see first hand the results of their suggestions. Those who wish to may also take the opportunity role-play their situation themselves and get to feel what it will be like to hold the conversation and achieve a positive outcome.

Benefits of attending - you will leave the event with:
A clear understanding of the significance and relevance of different interpersonal skills, assertiveness and communication
A proven set of tools to enhance your ability to interact positively with others
The confidence and skills to tackle your crucial conversations

Who should attend?
