Understanding the Economics of Violence

Many thanks for taking the time to look through this information pack regarding our Personal Defence Readiness course. In our changing world, the duties of our work can sometimes bring us into contact with aggression and violence however more and more employers are taking steps to equip their staff with skills and knowledge to competently deal with this.

Often when I am invited to speak to organisations about violence and aggression, some of the attendees realise that they have never experienced raw violence and find it hard to create the motivation to learn more about it. The unfortunate reality today is that when our everyday life is derailed by an aggressive person, too often experience is something we get, shortly after we need it.

dynamis insight, was set up in 2006 to provide training in dealing with violence and aggression for people from a variety of occupational settings to learn practical skills in avoiding or de-escalating situations and if necessary, physically dealing with violent confrontations.

Our understanding of the Economics of Violence has nothing to do with the monetary cost of crime. The truth is, no matter how successful your business or your work, regardless of how much material wealth you have amassed, no matter how much love and friendship there is in your life no-one can afford to become a victim of violence.

The psychological and emotional impact of becoming the victim of an assault, mugging or worse can have a serious effect on a person s life. Most successful people depend on their confidence, outgoing nature and friendliness in order to persevere and succeed in their life. Not many can afford the emotional cost of a violent confrontation, and many are attracted to developing skills in cerebral self-defence in the same way that they take care of their diet and lifestyle.

The mind navigates the body, so our training is designed with a careful blend of physical skills to develop confidence and capability combined with education about fear management, decision-making and thinking clearly under pressure. Many people who attend our courses find that the cerebral component of our sessions helps them in their work and their lives in general.

Confidence is what its all about - unlike many other courses, our training embraces a key reality: that the emotional and psychological impact of an aggressive or violent encounter is the major factor in determining how effectively a person deals with it.

Through interactive discussion, presentations and exercises, we present new ways to manage fear, gain clarity about the psychology of confrontation, and tools which harness natural behaviours, enabling people to persevere through adversity.

I hope you enjoy reading more about our course. If you have any questions, please give me a call or e-mail our office with your thoughts.

Many thanks,
