Students will acquire the requisite foundation of knowledge to serve on improvement teams in a Green Belt capacity including:
- Understand the principles, practices, and terminology of Six Sigma.
- Be exposed to team problem-solving methodologies.
- Recognize the importance of the use of data to solve problems.
- Learn how to use data analysis tools and techniques to measure, analyze, improve, and control processes and their outcomes.
- Understand how to use basic statistics to analyze patterns of variations.
- Learn how to use control charts.
- Understand the measures of process capability.
- Discover how to use mistake-proofing techniques to prevent errors from occurring.
Assessment
- Each of the four courses is self-contained with exercises throughout that are self-assessment "quizzes."
- Each of the four courses has End-of-Unit automated and self-scoring exams (called Challenges) that evaluate student progress, comprehension, and provide constructive feedback on areas of deficiency.
- Evaluation of student performance for each course will be based upon the following criteria: Final exams = 100% of course grade. Courses must be completed within 3 months of the assigned date.

Six Sigma Green Belt Library
The Six Sigma Green Belt Library gives one learner access to four core Green Belt courses: Six Sigma Start-Up, SPC Workout, DMAIC Problem-Solving, and Mistake-Proof It! The Green Belt Library is a prerequisite to the Black Belt Library.Six Sigma Start-Up is an introductory course on the principles and practices of Six Sigma. (1 Unit; 1 Assessment; Approximately 3 hours of training). Key topics include:
- The Six Sigma Environment
- Six Sigma Tools
- Six Sigma Infrastructure
- Unit 1: Statistics Primer
- Unit 2: Using Control Charts
- Unit 3: Process Capability Basics
DMAIC teaches learners the DMAIC problem-solving process as well as how to use data collection and analysis tools such as Pareto diagrams, fishbone diagrams, and flowcharts to name just a few. (2 Units; 2 Assessments; Approximately 7 hours of training). Contents include:
- Unit 1: Getting Started
- Unit 2: DMAIC Project Cycle
Mistake-Proof It! training includes a comprehensive background on techniques as well as the steps required to implement those techniques. (4 Units; 3 Assessments; Approximately 8 hours of training). Contents include:
- Unit 1: Mistake-Proofing Primer
- Unit 2: Effects of Mistake-Proofing
