This course is offered by a State Accredited University and offers State Board Continuing Education credits for Michigan teachers.? If you are located in a state other than Michigan, please check to see if your State Board will honor the Continuing Education Credit.? The course provider will be happy to provide you with appropriate documentation. This course is designed for K12 teachers but the concepts and examples will translate for any online course developer.

After completing this course, you will:

Grading Policies:? This course is self-directed and assessments are graded immediately upon completion. Please check your success in the Tools, Gradebook area. Assessments can be re-taken any time during the course. This course allows you to earn 1 SB-CEU which is available to anyone completing the course with a 70% or better passing score.


Lesson 1 - Introduction to Scanners This lesson introduces scanner basics.? Hardware and software requirements along with an overview of scanner types are presented. Lesson 2 - Basics of Computer Graphic Images In this lesson, you will learn basic terminology in scanning software.? Terms such as pixel, resolution, files types and screen resolution are defined. Lesson 3 - Operating a Scanner Lesson 3 covers scanner installation and basic scanning options and adjustments.? Instructions for scanning and saving images with most machines are discussed. Lesson 4 - Basic Image Adjustment This lesson details editing and enhancing scanned images.? Editing images and retaining good composition is discussed along with a preview of a variety of image editing software. Lesson 5 - Transferring Scanned Images In this lesson, you learn how to transfer scanned images to your computer for use in e-mail or other software programs like Word or PowerPoint.? Appropriate file formats are also discussed. Lesson 6 - Scanner Uses in Classroom Lesson 6 presents ideas for using the scanner in the classroom.? Numerous links with successful lesson plans are showcased along with ideas about saving other reference materials using a scanner. Lesson 7 - Purchasing a Scanner This lesson reviews a number of scanner brands and pricing levels.? Also covered are tips on scanning speed, scanning area and bit depth.
