Training Provided by Serebra Learning Corporation

The Improve phase of the Six Sigma DMAIC methodology concerns locating the optimal conditions of a process. Many improvement techniques used in Six Sigma concentrate on the impact of single factors on response or yield. In order to achieve breakthrough improvements, however, it is necessary to determine how multiple interacting factors impact response. This course introduces the sophisticated statistical tools used to optimize performance during the Improve phase. You will learn about Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and how it is used to model the impact of interacting factors on response. Evolutionary Operations, Central Composite Designs, the Box-Behnken model, and mixture designs are all introduced as methods for modeling, predicting, and optimizing response. Six Sigma is a registered Trademark of Motorola Corporation, and all rights, title, and interest in Six Sigma belong to Motorola. Candidates for Black Belt certification; managers/executives overseeing personnel involved in the implementation of Six Sigma in their organization; consultants involved in implementing a Six Sigma proposal; organizations implementing a Six Sigma project

Topics

Objectives

    Response Surface Methodology
  • identify the benefits of employing Response Surface Methodology during the Improve phase.
  • identify the correct response function for a given process.
  • match the three contour plot patterns generated by RSM to descriptions of what they indicate.
  • identify characteristics of the evolutionary operations technique.
  • recognize examples of correct actions to take to use evolutionary operations (EVOP).Higher-order Experiments
  • identify the benefits of conducting higher-order experiments.
  • match three central composite designs to their characteristics.
  • identify examples of conditions that call for the use of a Box-Behnken design.Mixture Experiments
  • recognize the benefits of using mixture experiments in the Improve phase.
  • identify the characteristics of mixture experiments.
  • determine which type of mixture experiment to use for a given scenario.
