Course: FOT-01 Fiber Optics Advanced Theory & Troubleshooting
Clock Hours: 90 (Includes 18 hours of Lab)
Targeted Audience:
This course is intended for individuals to assist fiber optics installers as they develop into finer optics technicians and to provide fiber optics installers the thorough understanding of optical networking components. The course provides fiber optics installers a hands-on experience to reinforce the theories learned throughout the course.
At Course Completion:
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Complete a deep exploration of the principals and theories which govern optical communications.
- Understand fiber optics at a level necessary for the development of technician level skills.
- Understand the basics of Passive Optical Networking (PON).
- Perform optical system design.
- Understand installation techniques.
- Safely handle, splice, and terminate, and install fiber optic cable within industry standards.
- Interrogate and troubleshoot advanced installations.
- Interrogate and troubleshoot complex cable casualties.
Exam: ETA Fiber Optics Technician (FOT)
This course is worth 6 credit hours through our partner, Baker University as the following courses:
- CMP3102: Fiber Optics Advanced Theory - 3CH
- CMP3103: Fiber Optics Advanced Theory Troubleshooting with Lab - 3CH
The Fiber Optic Installer certification must be obtained prior to enrolling into this course, or must be taken at the same time.
