A combination of classroom lecture and hands-on practice, Audio Recording Techniques is designed to provide a clear understanding of the essential concepts behind recording and audio production.
Prerequisites:
Enrollment is open to anyone seriously interested in the field of professional audio production and music recording; no previous experience is necessary.

The Key Principles of Sound/Hearing and Acoustics
Microphones: Design and Techniques
Signal Flow and Gain Structure
The Basics of Signal Processing
Understanding of Recording Terminology
Equipment:
The Recording Arts Center will provide a Pro Tools LE/M Box 2 computer workstation for each participant preloaded with course-relevant software and music. Sessions will be conducted in both the classroom at Studio West of San Diego, and Studios A and C.
