Teamwork Training: Team Orientation and Shared Visioning Session

Training Provided by Karen Denega Training & Coaching This half-day session focuses 'real' teams on their purpose and objectives. It is ideal for Senior Management Teams, Management Teams, Project Teams, or Client Service Teams that need to be coming from the same page. What does this session look like? This session is held as part of a team meeting where the attendees workshop through the topics on the agenda. It is highly interactive and engages them from the outset through aligning the objectives of the session to their individual roles and responsibilities. When is this session most appropriate? - Great when the organization has recently clarified its overall vision, it helps the team understand their role, responsibilities, and priorities in terms of their contribution to it. - Also for teams that are in some sort of transition, perhaps with a changing mandate, new team-members, or loss of key team-members. - Ideal if members typically operate in silos and are not leveraging the potential for collaboration and support from one another (which can be typical of some Senior Management Teams such as in sales). Benefits: - Creates a Shared Vision - Delivers Clarity on Team Purpose and Protocols; providing a Standard of Conduct to be referred back to in the future if needed - Prompts Dialogue on Common Issues & Challenges - Builds Natural Collaboration in a Practical Environment - Integrates New Team Members - Develops Team Unity - Promotes Real Teamwork *This session can also be delivered as either 1 or 2 day in-depth sessions. These could include additional training modules on any topic: from communication and influencing to stress management to leadership skills or hands-on sessions working on team deliverables. Also, ideal incorporated into a retreat. * Quarterly Status Checks can be added to promote greater accountability and indicate commitment to the process by leadership.

Teamwork Training: Team Orientation and Shared Visioning Session Session Objectives:
- to create a common purpose and united vision
- to prioritize and align work effort
- to generate agreed upon procedures and protocols for how the individuals on the team can support and interact with one another for greater functional unity
- to develop a sense of shared responsibility, even when working independently from one another, in order to collaborate and support one another for greater effectiveness

Framework:
This is a roll-up-your-sleeves practical teaming session where participants are led through a series of worksheets and discuss topics that are relevant to how they function as a team. Working individually or in pairs, debriefing results and then coming to agreement as a team on key priorities - all to create consistency of work effort aligned to the Team Purpose.

Session Outline:
Your session can be tailored to suit your needs. This outline is an example of what your Team Orientation & Shared Visioning Session could look like:

- Introductions and Set-up (including objectives of the session and agenda)
- Leader's positioning statements (including ensuring team clarity on the Organization's vision)
- Generating the Team's statement of purpose
- Prioritizing the Team's deliverables
- Discussing the way 'we' want to function as a team and agreeing our Guiding Principles (the basis on which we will operate going forward)

Break

- Completing a Team Effectiveness Assessment of the way we currently function
- Identifying a Personal Challenge and sharing it with the team to get their commitment to support
- Other special topics at your request
- Next Steps for the Team
- Next Steps for the Individuals
- Leader's closing comments

A full day session may include a module on how we communicate this to our teams, or other relevant topics based on your unique circumstances, plus training on a core skill the team needs
