MBA-521: Financial and Managerial Accounting: As a business manager, your ability to interpret accounting information is essential for planning and control, and for measuring the company's performance in many critical areas. In this course covers basic accounting theory and practice, and how to use accounting information in decision-making. Special emphasis is placed on income-determination concepts and preparation of financial position statements. Other topics include transaction analysis; revenue and expense recognition; accounting for merchandising, manufacturing and cost operations; and capital budgeting. Topics also include asset valuation and reporting, debt and evaluation financing, inter-corporate investments, earnings management, cost behavior, cost-volume-profit analysis, profit planning, transfer pricing, evaluation of segment profitability, and activity-based costing. International accounting issues are integrated throughout the course.

MBA-551: Marketing Management: Builds an in-depth understanding of basic marketing concepts and applies those concepts to a variety of management situations, including non-profit and public sector settings. The course provides working knowledge of the tools of marketing (product policy, pricing, distribution, promotion, consumer behavior), and the ways in which these tools can be usefully employed. The course also builds practical skills in analyzing marketing problems and opportunities and in developing marketing programs. The course also examines the relationship of marketing to corporate strategy and the strategic positioning of individual product or service lines. Emphasizes an understanding of current tools in strategic market planning and the planning and decision-making process itself.

MBA-523: Human Resources Management: This course provides a framework for understanding and thinking strategically about employment relations and the management of human resources in organizations. The course draws on insights from the social sciences to explore how employment relations are influenced by economic, social, psychological, legal, and cultural forces. Specific topics include: recruitment and selection; performance evaluation; compensation and benefits; promotion, job design; training; layoffs; retention and turnover; EEO issues; labor relations; performance evaluations; international human resource management; and the human resource implications of various strategies.

MBA-524: Managerial Finane: This course covers the foundations of corporate finance and uses these foundations to analyze many of the important financial decisions made within firms and other institutions. Some of the topics covered include the valuation of fixed-income securities and stocks, capital budgeting and the choice of investment projects, the optimal capital structure of the firm and how it is affected by taxes, the notion of market efficiency, the valuation of options and other derivative securities and the use of derivative securities in corporate finance. The course covers a spectrum of topics including financial statement analysis, financial forecasting, time value of money, valuation of financial securities, management of risk and return, and cost of capital. You will also learn how to estimate and analyze cash flows in the capital budgeting process and examine capital structure, dividend policies and long-term financial planning.

MBA-525: Organizational Behavior: This course relates existing theory and research to organizational problems by reviewing basic concepts in the following areas: individual motivation and behavior, decision making, interpersonal communication and influence, small group behavior, and individual, dyadic, and inter-group conflict and cooperation. The course focuses on the ways in which organizations and their members affect one another and exposes students to frameworks for diagnosing and dealing with problems in organizational settings. This course also introduces students to concepts; models and frameworks to help them become better acquainted with the organizations they work for, the teams they work in, the people they work with, and their own personal development. To help assess the dynamics of the management context, the tracks of this course include: How to develop as a manager, how to work well within teams, how to develop more effective organizations, how to assess the external environment in which those organizations operate, how to initiate change in each one of the above arenas, etc.

MBA-526: Managerial and Business Economics: Managerial Economics covers applied economic theory, practice, and thinking. It emphasizes selected micro- and macroeconomic topics that are pertinent to contemporary business decision-making. Students learn to use fundamental economic concepts by applying them to specific real-world problems or events. The evaluation of current issues, such as government regulation, e-commerce, monetary policies, energy shortages, and international trade, is incorporated into the course through student research that builds on the concepts presented in the course and on information obtained from the Internet and other publicly available data sources. Business Economics explore the micro- and macroeconomics in this. It will enable you to analyze pricing and production decisions across a number of variables. Utilizing a practical approach to these complementary topics, the course also offers insight into the basic economic factors affecting a company's market at the consumer level as well as within the larger context of national and international economic policies. Microeconomic topics address the nature of economics, supply and demand, elasticity of demand, production and costs, and market structures. Macroeconomic topics examine the monetary and banking system, inflation, economic fluctuations and growth, and monetary and fiscal policies for maintaining stability and growth.

MBA-527: Managerial Analysis - Data and Decisions: This course develops your expertise in data analysis to help you become proficient in the quantitative aspects of running a business. Managers deal with a large amount of information in quantitative form. Effective managers must understand the conditions under which quantitative techniques may be appropriately applied for decision-making. It includes fundamental concepts and techniques for analyzing risk and formulating sound decisions in uncertain environments. Approximately half of the course focuses on probability theory and decision analysis including decision trees, decision criteria, the value of information, and simulation techniques. The remainder of the course examines statistical methods for interpreting and analyzing data including sampling concepts, regression analysis, and hypothesis testing. Applications include inventory management, demand analysis, lotteries and gambling, portfolio analysis, insurance, auctions, surveys and opinion polls, environmental contamination and failure analysis. The course emphasizes analytical techniques and concepts that are broadly applicable to business decisions.


MBA-550: Thesis in Islamic Finance: To achieve MBA degree, each student must submit a thesis. It is the fulfillment of the requirements for MBA Degree in Islamic Banking and Finance. It is the final demonstration of the student's analytical skills and ability to apply the frameworks and concepts discussed within the program. Preparatory discussions attended both by program facilitators and an expert PhD in Islamic Finance, add structure and substance to the paper.


MBA-501: Islamic Economical and Financial System: The course starts with the overview of Conventional & its differences with Conventional Banking. It than covers the History of Islamic Banking, Market Perceptions & performance of Islamic Finance Industry, Analysis on Islamic Interest Free Banking, Current Economical System & its problems, Comparison of Capitalism & Socialism, Philosophy of Islamic Economical System, Islamic Model for distribution of wealth, Comparison of factors of Production in Conventional & Islamic Economical Systems. This course gives in depth study of Sources of Sharia, Ijtihad, Riba & its types, Commercial Interest, Usury, Simple & Compound Interests, Markup, Profit, Gharar and Gambling. This course also gives profound overview of Islamic Financial Contracts such as Bai, Bai Wafa, Bai Salam, Bai Istisna & Bai Muajjal, and orders regarding Wakalah, Amanah, Wadia, Rihn, Hawala & Kifala. This course ends with the sanctity and overview of Islamic modes of finance such as Modarabah, Musarakah, Salam, Istisna, Morabaha, Ijarah and Diminishing Musharakah.

MBA-502: Islamic Modes of Finance: This course focuses on Islamic Modes of Financing. The program starts with Mudarabah a Equity Based Product & explains its basic rules, conditions of sale, steps of Mudarabah Financing, its contractual mechanism, important Issues in Mudarabah financing, its applications, its model agreement and relevant Case studies. Course than consider Musharakah a Equity Based Product in which participants study Shirkah & its types, rules related to Musharkah, conditions for termination of Musharkah, issues related to Musharkah, its model agreement & relevant case studies. Another form of Musharakah is than studied i. e. Diminishing Musharakah, its differences with Musharakha, types & features of Diminishing Musharakah, its structure, its implementation in house financing & other case studies. This course than discusses Murabaha a Equity Based Product, its contract, types, conditions for termination, its rulings, requirements related to profit, its comparison with Musharakah, its model agreement and case studies. After Murabaha, another major financial instrument is discussed i. e. Ijarah a Semi Debt based product. The course explains its types of Ijarah, its basic rules, its contractual mechanism, explanation of Ijarah Wa Iqtina, Ijarah lease agreement and case studies related to Ijarah financing. Course then focuses on Salam a Trade Based Product, its conditions, its comparison & combination with Murabaha, its types, its lease agreement & case studies associated to Salam. At the end of this course, Istisna a Trade Based Product is discussed, including its contractual mechanism, its model agreement & case studies.

MBA-503: Islamic Commercial and Investment Banking: The course covers many practical areas towards Islamic Commercial & Investment Banking. They includes implementation of Islamic Finance, Musharakah accounts in Islamic Bank, Financing Projects through Islamic Banks, Islamic Financing for Imports & Exports and use of Musharakah for working capital. Course then covers Accounting for Islamic Banks and Islamic Banking products, such as, information needs for accounting society, accounting theories for Islamic Financial system, valuation of assets, time value of money & determination of profit, trust & investment deposits, comparison of accounting for several modes of finance and Qard-e-hasana. This course also gives an in-depth study of AAOIFI and its standards for Shariah & Accounting, AAOIFI Shariah Standards & its major rulings, introduction to AAOIFI accounting standards, Zakat accounting and factors affecting Islamic financial reporting. Course than covers several areas in Islamic Investments, such as: Sukuk, Shares, Bonds, Securitization, Islamic Investment Funds, etc. Program than focuses on Risk Management in the light of Shariah rulings, its policies, procedures adopted by IFIs for Risk Management, guidelines issued by Islamic Financial services Board and its application process.

MBA-504: Islamic Insurance System: This course covers all the major areas in Islamic Insurance or Takaful. Course explains Islamic Law for Islamic Insurance, Sources of Sharia for Insurance, associated definitions such as Al-Gharar, Al-Maiser, Al-Riba, Hiba, Tabarru, Liability, Fidya, Al-Wakala, Waqf and Al-Mudharabah. Course explains the Foundation of insurance in the Islamic economy, its philosophy, development scenario and its comparison with conventional insurance. Course also explains all Forms of Takaful, which are adopted and implemented in different regions. Participants also learn the types and operational mechanism of Takaful Models, such as Modaraba Model, Wakala Model & Wakala Waqf Model. Course than explains types of Takaful Business (Family and General), their objectives, principals and operation flowcharts. It covers Retakaful, its working mechanism and its philosophy in Islam. It than explains the Accounting Standards for Takaful companies and their differences with Conventional Insurance; balance sheet, Profit loss accounts and cash flow statements for Takaful Business. It than explains policies, role of agents, operations, management, issues and challenges for Motor Insurance, Marine Insurance, Fire Insurance & Machine Insurance.

MBA-505: Advanced Areas in Islamic Finance: Course covers Financial Engineering and Evaluation of new financial instruments, scope in financial engineering; Guidelines for Financial Contract Design; Sukuk and Islamic Reals Estate Investment Trusts (I-REITS); Development and current practices of Liquidity Management Instruments Islamic Banks; Recent developments in IFI Theory & Practices such as modeling and pricing Islamic Financial Products. Program also covers the challenges in Islamic Risk Management; Islamic Funds Management, its development, legal framework, regulatory structure, performing funds management business, roles of Shariah Adviser for Islamic Funds and Issues, Challenges & Analytics in Islamic Fixed Income; Shariah Audit and Governance for Islamic Finance; Process and procedures in Shariah Compliance; and Prudential Standards & Guidelines.
