This course will be delivered over a two-day period. Attendees will gain a sound understanding of the various aspects of a water main break including common causes. Participants will gain a working knowledge of the various components of a water main system, alternative approaches to repair or replacement; they will learn the reasons and need for disinfection and Health and Safety requirements such as working in a road allowance and other personal safety items. At the completion of the two day period the learners will understand the regulatory requirements that operators must follow to repair a break as well as gaining a sound understanding of available methods used to determine water losses both real and apparent and the financial impact that they have for the supply authority. It will be of interest to Supervisors and operators responsible for conducting the repairs.
