To be effective, software testers must understand the overall software development life cycle
employed by project managers, systems analysts and software designers. Testers must understand
the development strategies that are being taken by the project teams so that they can effectively plan
corresponding testing activities.
This is a survey course that examines the various software development life cycle models typically
used by used by software developers and looks at what information would be helpful to a software
tester.
When this course is completed, the attendee will have an increased understanding of the
development methods used in software development and how these impact test planning and
execution. The goal of the course is to enable testers to loosely align their testing strategies with the
development needs of the project team.
