This course will provide theory and hands-on application of educational methodologies required by todaya s trainers. You will learn the instructional design process in a fun and interactive approach. You will also practice teaching tools and sharpen your presentation skills. Upon successful completion, participants will be certified by Macomb Community College.

Instructor Certification
Day 1
- Discuss the criteria for effective session starters.
- Compare their own learning styles with others using VARK.
- Describe the four instructional styles as related to various teaching methods.
- Examine the basic principles of adult learning.
- Identify the different phases of the instructional design model ADDIE.
- Give an impromptu presentation following the criteria given.
- Identify the steps, tools, components of a needs assessment.
- Identify the three types of objectives and their impact on training.
- Identify the four parts of an objective.
- Write and analyze behavioral-based objectives on given topics.
- Contrast the differences between outcomes and objectives.
- Discuss the parts of a Design Document.
- List the four components of communication theory.
- Describe the impact of the communication theory on instruction.
- Develop a memory aid that can be used in training.
- Identify the components necessary to establish trainer credibility.
- Identify ASTD training ethics impact your training delivery.
- Identify diversity issues that impact design and delivery of training.
- Describe tools and techniques to create a risk-free learning environment.
- Identify the various types of hands-on activities available to facilitators.
- Describe the functions of various seating arrangements.
- Identify aspects of presentation.
- Discuss the importance of time management in delivering training.
- Discuss the use of creativity and humor to enhance training.
- Discuss the role of the instructor in working in groups.
- Analyze the importance of both verbal and nonverbal communication.
- Describe the purpose of using different types of questions.
- Identify aspects of giving a professional presentation.
- Identify ways to overcome resistance to learning.
- Demonstrate how to deal with disruptive behaviors in a classroom.
- Discuss various forms of positive feedback in a classroom setting.
- Describe the three types of evaluations used in training.
- Describe each of Kirkpatrick s four levels of evaluation.
- Identify the characteristics of rubrics as an evaluation tool.
- Justify the use of revisions throughout the development process.
- Prepare material for presentation.
- All participants will give a 15 minute, non-work related, instructional presentation.
- This presentation will be the basis for successful completion of the Certification.
