This course provides the theory and hands-on application of the methodologies required by todaya s instructional designers. You will learn instructional design process, including the analysis, design, development, and evaluation of course materials. You will leave this class with practical tools you can take back to your workplace. Participants will be certified by Macomb Community College based on successful completion of the instructional design deliverables.

Day 1
- Define instructional design.
- Describe the history of instructional design.
- Recite the five components of ADDIE.
- Define the components of a needs analysis.
- Define audience characteristics based on data from collection tools.
- Analyze relevant work setting characteristics.
- Perform job and task analyses.
- Identify alternatives to instructional solutions.
- Determine projects appropriate for instructional design solutions.
- Write performance objectives
- Determine performance measurements.
- Sequence performance objectives.
- Explain Gagne s 9 Events of Instruction.
- Create a design document/ matrix using the design document tool.
- Organize and present information using message design principles
- Use lesson elements to help learners organize information.
- Create an instructor manual.
- Determine appropriate visual aids.
- Define evaluation.
- Describe the purpose of evaluation.
- Distinguish between assessment and evaluation.
- Create an evaluation tool.
- Construct test questions.
- Explain the benefit and purpose of pilot courses.
- Describe summative student evaluations.
- Determine the reasons for revision.
- Determine the Return on Investment (ROI) of a sample training scenario.
