The Trenching and Excavation Safety course is Instructor Led safety training and takes place in our Denver, Colorado training facility.
Safety training is an OSHA requirement, 29 CFR 1926. 650 Subpart P, for employees working in and around excavations and trenches.
Our Trenching/ Excavation Safety Training is a "Competent Person" level training course. This class is Instructor led and takes place over approximately 4 hours. Students receive an HP&P Safety wallet card showing completion of training at the end of the class.

Trenching and Excavation Safety
The Trenching/ Excavation Safety training course covers the following topics in accordance with 29 CFR 1926. 650 Subpart P:
1. Scope, Application and Definitions
2. Specific Excavation/ Trenching Requirements Including:
Surface Encumbrances
Underground Installations
Access and Egress
Vehicular Traffic
Falling Loads
Hazardous Atmospheres
Water Accumulation
3. Sloping and Benching Requirements
4. Trench Safety Training
5. Protection of Employees
6. Competent Person Responsibilities and Requirements
7. Excavation Safety Inspections
8. Soil Classification
9. Support Systems
10. Shield Systems
11. Excavation Hazard Recognition and Assessment
The Trenching/ Excavation training course is taught by an OSHA authorized training instructor who also has years of practical experience in the construction field. Upon completion of training, students will be knowledgeable of Competent Person requirements and responsibilities. Students will also be able to recognize and assess various hazards associated with excavations and trenches.
