Training Provided by Lorman Education Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Records: What Can You Release? - This teleconference will focus on the confidentiality of mental health, and alcohol and drug abuse patient records. Ms. Gordon will discuss federal and state laws applicable to these highly protected records and participants will review the circumstances under which these sensitive records may or may not be disclosed. A number of other issues that frequently arise with mental health and substance abuse records will be discussed, including how laws governing mental health and substance abuse records fit into the HIPAA laws; what to do after an inappropriate disclosure of patient information; and some special issues with electronic health records.
