Basic Disaster Life Support is the introductory class in the National Disaster Life Support curriculum. The objectives of Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) are:
Discuss the importance of a nationally standardized disaster education and training program.
Describe the National Disaster Life Support (NDLS) courses.
Define disaster, Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) and related terms.
Identify the components of the D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R paradigm.

Basic Disaster Life Support BDLS
Basic Disaster Life Support is the introductory level class in the National Disaster Life Support curriculum of courses. It is an eight hour didactic course providing a foundation for other National Disaster Life Support classes. The National Disaster Life Support classes were developed to provide a standardized level of care for disaster life support. National Disaster Life Support classes, such as Basic Disaster Life Support, are only taught through authorized National Disaster Life Support training centers.
