Description
This seminar is designed to provide an overview of engineering approaches on the design of wastewater treatment processes with advanced technologies. Theory and conceptual design of systems for the treatment of wastewater will be discussed. Attendees will be provided with a solid understanding of important principles and practices to protect the municipal water quality through good design principles of appropriate waste treatment processes. Topics include wastewater characterization and treatment, using both conventional and advanced treatment technologies. Physical, chemical, and biological process designs will be presented, including sedimentation, filtration, biological treatment, and sludge processing. Finally, there are some case studies to discuss and review the practical implementation aspects of wastewater treatment.
Objectives
To provide attendees with concise principles of wastewater engineering and solid practical knowledge of conventional and advanced treatment processes applied in wastewater treatment plants.
Learning Outcomes
It is expected that the participants, at the completion of this workshop, should attain the working knowledge to accomplish the following:
* Characterize waste and prescribe the type of treatment that will be required to meet government standards for proper management and disposal.
* Master the principles of waste treatment systems for the removal of suspended solids, colloids, dissolved and particulate organic matter, nutrients, pathogens and toxic substances.
* Design an advanced waste-treatment system for the proper management of wastewater in considerations of sustainability and economic efficiency, by using the principles and practices which you acquire from the workshop
* Apply the knowledge gained from the course to obtain the optimal treatment for municipal & industrial waste.
