Certificate Program
Provided by International Gateway Kelowna
15 week dog grooming and cosmetology certificate. Classes begin monthly for ages 19 and up.
This accelerated program provides students with all the tools necessary to become a certified dog groomer. The course features three, five week learning modules combined with practical training. IGK offers this program in conjunction with P&P Canine Centre. Many employment opportunities exist in Kelowna and Canada for qualified groomers. Graduates can earn up to $50 per hour

Course schedule:
15 weeks
Monday-Friday 9: 00am-5: 00pm
Class size-Maximum 3
Students can expect 1-2 hours of homework per day
Program begins monthly
Curriculum
80 hands on / 20 theory
There will be handouts, videos, books, special guests and exams to facilitate learning.
Achievements-Graduation
Final exam-students must successfully groom 3 dogs from start to finish in a day.
Students must maintain a 75 average on written and practical exams in order to graduate.
90 attendance is mandatory to successfully complete the program.
Requirements
Minimum 19 years of age.
Prior to enrolling it is recommended that international students have an Upper Intermediate level of English or Cambridge FCE as they will be integrated with Canadian students.
Be in sound physical and mental condition to operate the grooming equipment.
Have the patience to cope with a variety of canine dispositions and have no dog related allergies.
Dedication and love of animals is the primary requirement
