International Gateway Kelowna and Vedanta Academy team up to provide a high quality ESL and high school program.
During the past 5 years we have had a number of international high school success stories and many of our former students have attained Honors standing at our partner high school, Vedanta Academy. The vast majority of students continue to post secondary education in B. C. after completing our joint program. The BC Dogwood diploma is one of Canada s most recognized and sought after high school credentials.
Kelowna provides a safe, fun and friendly study environment for younger learners. It also provides bountiful recreational opportunities (skiing, snowboarding, water sports, basketball, hiking, equestrian and golf) and a wide variety of cultural activities.
International Gateway Kelowna and Vedanta Academy believe in developing each student s personal potential as a global citizen. Both schools have high academic and discipline standards, small class sizes and teach students to be self-reliant, resourceful, tolerant and creative. During the past 4 years we have successfully hosted students for this program from Japan, Korea, Germany, the Netherlands and Quebec.
International Gateway Kelowna accepts high school preparation students ages 12-18 on a monthly basis for 12-48 weeks of Practical ESL and Cambridge FCE exam preparation. International students can enter Vedanta Academy in September for a school year or enter in January for 6 months. Vedanta Academy has a limit of 5 international students, does not provide ESL support and only accepts international students transferring from International Gateway Kelowna. IGK provides homestay and comprehensive guardianship and support during the students entire stay. It is highly recommended that students transferring to Vedanta enter at a Cambridge FCE level in order to fulfill their English requirement and succeed in this total immersion environment
