Doctor of Oriental Medicine (OMD) by distance learning
This degree is by thesis (dissertation) in any area of oriental medicine. The thesis can be based on case studies or on the theory and philosophy of oriental medicine.
Entry to the course can be arranged at any time of year subject to availability of places.
Your research will be supervised by a professor with a background in clinical medicine and surgery who is also highly qualified in several branches of complementary medicine.
Communication with the supervisor will normally be by email.
This is a postgraduate (higher) degree. Applicants must already have a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree and be qualified and experienced in a branch of oriental medicine. ***This degree does not give you a right or license to practise oriental medicine but is a higher qualification for existing practitioners only***
This degree must not be used in a way that suggests you are an (allopathic) medical doctor if you are not. Therefore it may not be available for students in countries where the title "doctor" is inadvisable for use by lay therapists (i. e. therapists who are not doctors of medicine). This degree is ideal for use by people who already have an MD or MBBS who are branching into oriental medicine OR in countries where alternative practitioners are able to become licensed as doctors of alternative medicine and who already have such licences.
The program leads to the award of the OMD (Doctor of Oriental Medicine) degree of Calamus International Univesity, a global distance learning university that is not accredited by any government-approved agency. CIU degrees are not UK or US degrees (see our profile for more info).
Due to the credit crunch this program is available for a basic tuition fee starting from GBP (Pounds Sterling ) 995. The standard registration period is 18 months - lengthy projects taking more time may attract supplementary fees.
