Ph.D. or Doctoral Degree Program
Provided by Calamus Extension College Ltd
DRS - Doctor of Religious Studies (Distance learning)
Entry to this course is available at any time of year.
The focus of this Religious Studies program is on the history and philosophy of religion, history of religious ideas, religion in society, comparative religion and interfaith studies, psychology of religion and psychology of belief. The emphasis is on the diversity of religion and the underlying patterns of faith, belief and symbolism of religions.
Please note that this course is not Christian and is not dogmatic. It is for open-minded, curious and tolerant students wishing to explore different avenues of understanding. In particular, this highly flexible program will appeal to seekers exploring paths beyond their childhood faith, and to counsellors, ministers and spiritual coaches of New Age, New Thought and metaphysical orientations.
If you are an interfaith minister, spiritual counsellor, spiritual coach or New Age / New Thought teacher, this course will add greatly to your understanding of the field and thereby enrich your courses, presentations, etc.
After enrolment, an individualised syllabus is negotiated with the student. As well as the topics mentioned above, students can take units drawn from our ranges in metaphysics, transpersonal psychology, esoteric studies, New Age studies, parapsychology, shamanism, reincarnation studies, contemporary spirituality, holistic studies, etc. plus electives such as counselling skills, meditation, and personal development.
The main method of delivery is textbook-based units, with written assignments that can be emailed to the college.
The program leads to a Doctoral degree from Calamus Int'l University, a global distance learning university that is not accredited by any government-recognised agency (see our profile for further info). CIU degrees are not UK or US degrees.
Due to the credit crunch, this program is available for a very favourable fee of from GBP (Pounds Sterling) 995 (plus textbooks as required).
