Training Provided by Sun Pirate, Inc This online course will provide the student technician with the fundamental knowledge of photovoltaic system design and installation. This course will be suitable for a supervised, entry level position with a dealer/ installer or other photovoltaic industry company. Student technicians will learn the practical design criteria, installation guidelines, safety issues, maintenance, and legal considerations of photovoltaic systems. Instructor mentored. Manuals included. Fifteen lessons plus final examination (16 weeks). The essential training objective of this course is to provide the entry level photovoltaic installer/ technician with fundamental technical knowledge on photovoltaic's in order that the technician may acquire and advance in design, installation and servicing responsibilities as the market for photovoltaic power systems progresses. Upon completion of this course, the student technician should be able to: a Recognize the various types of photovoltaic systems and components currently in use. a Demonstrate safe working practices. a Properly design and size residential photovoltaic power systems. a Assist in the planning and installation of photovoltaic arrays and components. a Understand the types of codes and standards that apply to the proper installation of photovoltaic systems. a Understand the types of permits, warranties, and the customer relations required for completion of the overall solar project. a Assist in the servicing of common photovoltaic systems a Improve the quality of installations.

Photovoltaic System Design Installation Following is an outline of the weekly topics of this online course. Each week you will have a reading assignment and a list of various sites to check out to cover the weeks learning objectives. There is also a weekly discussion topic that consists of an activity. Finally each week you have a quiz to complete the lesson. A new lesson opens every monday and at the end of the course their is a comprehensive final exam and a course survey. The course is online and instructor mentored for participation.
