nProductivity is fast becoming an even more vital issue to the business world. Presenteeism, or work loss due to underlying health conditions when individuals remain at work, is one important facet of productivity. One study found that approximately 6 percent of a global company's total compensation (salaries, wages and all benefit costs) were lost due to presenteeism. Work site wellness programs can potentially make many important contributions to the measurement and reduction of productivity losses associated with presenteeism. This teleconference will cover a working definition of presenteeism, the major methodological approaches to its measurement, some of the common perceptions and misperceptions about its occurrences and mitigation, and a set of recommendations for how presenteeism can be addressed in the context of work site wellness programming from the perspective of the employer and the health plan. Learn how this concept will likely evolve over time and how it may further shape wellness programming in the future. Help your organization reduce this critical component of lost productivity!
