The course is aimed at Mainframe developers and trainees who have know how of COBOL, JCL and DB2 and now want to add CICS into their armory. The course contains many practical exercises to ensure familiarity with the CICS development process.
Whilst covering the basics of CICS, this course aims to giving the developers a know how of how to develop CICS programs, how to debug them and how to crack interviews. On completion of this course the student will be able to:
* Write a CICS program from scratch
* Understand how to define and develop MAPS
* Debug CICS programs
* Provide production support for CICS environment
* Read and comprehendlegacy code

Training on CICS
The developer should be familiar with the host environment, namely TSO/ ISPF, COBOL, JCL and DB.
Development will be performed using:
* IBM Mainframe
* CICS Environment
Practical sessions make up a large part of the course, allowing delegates to demonstrate and reinforce the lectures given. During these sessions the delegate will gain experience of writing CICS programs. Examples are used extensively, ranging from simple code snippets to full applications with complete real world functionality. These are supplied at the start of the course and it is encouraged that the delegates execute and experiment with these under the instructor s guidance as they are introduced. These examples are available to take away, along with the delegate s own work. The comprehensive Student Guide to crack the interviews supplied at the end of the course. Delegates will also be able to access a free help-line with technical questions relating to topics covered on the course.
