Challenge Ropes Course
Off-site Adventures
The Ropes Course is used as a tool to inspire individual and group growth. The elements of the course are designed to take individuals beyond their comfort zones and beyond their own expectations to a higher level of self-worth. Self-esteem is built, communication is heightened, and a bond between people is developed.
In all Four Mounds activities, participants are engaged in "Challenge by Choice." The power is given to team members to choose the level at which they wish to participate. A reasonable willingness to try is crucial for success. The mastering of a particular event is not as important as the attempt. It is through a series of these attempts that groups become teams, and strangers become friends.

- G asked: I am building a youth leaders ministry and need to kick-off with a really good event that will drive togetherness and build a strong team.
Challenge Ropes Course
Discussion takes place throughout the day on how what the participants are learning translates back to the workplace. A final debrief will be conducted at the end of the day with all of the participants to assure accountability and follow-up on the agreed upon goals.
We have a low and a high ropes course at Four Mounds. The focus of the low course is on teambuilding, leadership, communication, problem solving, and looking at things from a different perspective.
The focus of the high ropes course is personal challenge, trust, and stepping outside your comfort zone. Although these high ropes course activities are more individually focused the entire group remains engaged during these activities as either a member of the belay crew, encourager, or assisting the climber with the attempt and completion of the activity.
The philosophy that we operate by is Challenge by Choice , meaning no one has to feel pressured at any time to do anything that they are emotionally or physically uncomfortable with. We make this point very clear at the start of the day so that people are participating at their chosen level of comfort throughout the day. Thus if there are people who d prefer to stay on the low ropes course all day we can accommodate this request. If after observing their co-workers on the high ropes course they choose to either observe or make an attempt at the high ropes element of their choice they can seamlessly move to the high ropes course. The two courses are very close to each other so logistically it is quite simple to move from one area to the next.
We have had people of all ages and skill levels on the course and we structure each session according to the abilities and ages of the participants.
We take the safety and personal regard of our clients very seriously while they are on the ropes course so complete instruction in the ways that we will keep each other safe is explained and practiced prior to getting onto the ropes course proper.
