INTEGRATE CBT/ REBT WITH YOUR CURRENT MODALITY
Commencement: In October 2009, I plan to begin the first group training for the Professional Certificate in Cognitive Emotive Narrative Therapy (CENT).
Course structure and content: This will comprise six Tuesday evenings in Hebden Bridge, from 5. 00pm to 9. 00pm: a total of 24 hours of training, combined with 100 hours of reading - three set books - plus 200 hours of essay writing, to demonstrate a grasp of the content of the set books, integrated with the practical work in sessions; plus submission of three audio tapes demonstrating the use of CENT in practice with clients/ patients.
The competition: No comparable courses are currently offered anywhere in the UK.

The (UK) NHS challenge: If you work within the NHS in the UK, as a psychodynamic or humanistic counsellor, then you will be up against the challenge of how to integrate some CBT into your work, because of the IAPT (Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies) process, which is currently in vogue.
The CENT solution: I have developed an integrative form of counselling and psychotherapy, over the past eleven years. It is an integration of Freud, Berne, Ellis, Beck, Rogers/ Maslow, Klein/ Fairbairn and the Buddha. It is an explicit, diagrammed model of the mind of the client, and how to hold the relationship while exploring the possibilities of new ways of thinking/ feeling/ behaving for the client. It presents counselling and psychotherapy as an empowering cognitive-emotive relationship plus an educational encounter. It requires a high level of interpersonal skill and psychological and philosophical knowledge.
About the trainer: In addition to being a high impact trainer, I am also a highly effective counsellor; and so I can model a way of being that will preserve your interpersonal effectiveness in the face of the IAPT 'deskilling' process. I have run training in rational/ cognitive therapy programmes in Hebden Bridge and all over the world for the past eight years.

Dr Jim Byrne has a Doctorate in Counselling; an MA in Education; a Further Education Teachers Certificate; former Member of the Institute of Training and Development; eight years experience of teaching counselling knowledge/ skills; and thirty years experience of teaching/ training, consulting, and management of education and training.
Quality and cost: And finally, my training is of a high quality for a modest cost.

Costs: GBP35. 00 per training/ learning session, for six sessions, in Hebden Bridge. Two telephone tutorials at 20. 00 each. Assessment of three submitted audio tapes/ CDs/ MP3s, at 20. 00 each. Total cost: 210. 00, plus 40. 00, plus 60. 000 = a Grand total of GBP310. 00.
Set books: The cost of the set books would be extra, and in the region of GBP35. 00.
Start date: Tuesday October 6th, at 5. 00pm.
Exclusivity: Remember, only 12 candidates can get a place on this course this time around.
Certificate: At the end of the training, successful candidates will receive a handsome certificate entitled The Professional Certificate in Cognitive Emotive Narrative Therapy (CENT/ CBT).The use of the CBT acronym in the title is intended to make it clear to NHS managers that this is a CBT conversion type course, which may attract funding for participants.
Payment: Payment is strictly in advance. If your employing agency is going to pay, then they should send a cheque for the full amount of GBP310. 00, made payable to ABC Coaching and Counselling Services, and addressed to ABC Coaching, 27 Wood End, Keighley Road, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, HX7 8HJ. If they want to use the BACS systems for direct payment into the ABC Coaching bank account, they should send the relevant forms to the ABC Coaching address above. The deadline for payment of the full fee is 28th August 2009.
