Building Information Modeling: Planning, Design and Legal Considerations

Lorman Education Services
Training Provided by Lorman Education Services nWhether you are an owner, a designer or a builder, you need information about building information modeling. The good news is that there is lots of information out there; the bad news is that much of it is not useful. No one knows everything about BIM but we can start by talking about authoritative sources for BIM information, then sprinkle in some basic BIM concepts. Information will be presented that will be of interest for any team member. We will talk about some new developments in BIM contract language that you may have heard about, as well as what legal issues may be real and what may just be excuses. When we talk about the tools and the processes, we will explore some costs and benefits of BIM throughout the team. We will talk through a couple project examples where BIM tools and processes were used to really make a difference in the outcome of the project and finish up with a section focusing on the "What's in it for me?" question, again addressing your needs. n nYou will come away from this teleconference with some solid concepts, some resources for more exploration, an update on the state of the art and best of all, some examples and ideas about how to make your next BIM project successful. n nLearning Objectives n- You will be able to formulate better decision making, data, design, coordination and collaboration. n- You will be able to recognize legal and contract implications of BIM. n- You will be able to breakdown what processes are working. n- You will be able to specify BIM for owners, designers and builders. n
