BenefitsPayroll personnel are continually faced with legal and practical challenges associated with employee benefits, overtime, nonexempt employee requirements, employee bonus payments, confusing payroll forms, etc. Not only do you have to know your own state laws but often times neighboring state laws if you have employees across state lines. The taxability of employee benefits is confusing and the regulations are constantly changing. Working time for nonexempt employees is not well-understood throughout the payroll profession and many professionals spend more time on payroll forms than is either necessary or available. This teleconference will help payroll personnel cope with multistate payroll pitfalls explaining in practical terms not only how to calculate the taxability of employee benefits but how to structure your benefits to be nontaxable. Finally the teleconference will spell out the significant differences between state and federal laws with respect to overtime, taxable income, break periods and garnishments. We will answer common questions such as 'Which state laws do I need to comply with if my employees work out of state?', 'Do I need multiple policies for all my employees or a separate policy for each state that I have employees in?'
