Introduction to Microfinance
The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to best practices in the design, management, and evaluation of microfinance programs. At the end of the course, participants will be able to describe the role of microfinance in the financial services sector; the profile of the average microfinance client; the range of providers of microfinance services; the role of government in developing microfinance; and the principles of microfinance performance management.
Employability
The course aims to enhance graduates employability in areas such as:
International Financial Institutions, i. e. the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and United Nations organisations such as UNDP United Nations Development Programme.
International Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) such as Oxfam, CARE, Action-Aid, Christian Aid, etc.
Government organisations, such as the Department for International Development, UK, and the United States for International Development, USA.
Specialised microfinance banks such as Grameen Bank, K-Rep, Banco Sol, MiBanco, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, etc.
International Development Banks such as the Asian Development Bank, the African Development Bank, the European Development Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank.
Commercial banks in Europe, USA, Latin America, Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe, particularly those with interest in microfinance.
Establishment of own small enterprises and microfinance organisations in your own home countries or abroad.
