Intro to ECG is a fully-accredited, self-paced, online course that provides students with the necessary information to master the basic principles of electrocardiography. Students have access to the course for one year, and upon successful completion, will be issued a certificate worth 1. 6 CEUs (Continuing Education Units). At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to: 1) Discuss the cardiac anatomy essential for understanding the basic principles of ECG interpretation, 2) Discuss the difference between depolarization and repolarization, 3) List three ECG complexes, and 4) List two common ECG abnormalities encountered in clinical practice using a standard 12-Led ECG tracing.

Introduction to Electrocardiography ECG
The Online Introduction to ECG class modules include:
1. Anatomy: basic anatomy including the heart, valves, blood vessels, conduction system
2. Electrophysiology: depolarization and repolarization
3. ECG-complexes: P wave, PQ interval, QRS complex, ST segment, T wave, J point
4. Leads and electrodes: Definitions, electrical principles, lead placement
5. Electrical axis of the heart: Variants, clinical relevance, determination of the electrical heart axis
6. Determination of rate: Determination of bradycardia, tachycardia, regular and irregular rhythm
7. Bundle branch blocks: LBBB, RBBB, incomplete block, effect on heart axis, ECG criteria
8. Premature complexes: Premature atrial, junctional and ventricular complexes, ventricular multigeminy
9. Ventricular complexes: Ventricular escape complexes, run of PVC's, sustained/ non-sustained VT
10. Rhythm analysis: Sinus rhythm, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, VT, torsades de pointes, VF, blocks
11. Ischemia and infarction: Q waves, T wave abnormalities, R progression, STT abnormalities
