Life and personal coaching is a subject which draws from a number of different disciplines, such as counselling, psychotherapy, developmental psychology, management, education, personal development, careers work, wellness and stress management, plus insights and techniques from such helping approaches such as hypnotherapy, NLP and Emotional Freedom Techniques.
Programmes may start at any time of year, subject to availability.
An increasing number of dedicated coaching textbooks is now available, which are used to build our core units on coaching. As well as such core units, the coaching student will need knowledge of theory and practical approaches from some of the other fields we have mentioned.
Core units are available in various coaching models and approaches such as Attraction, Coactive, NLP and EFT Coaching and there are units available on life, personal, business, performance and executive coaching, Clean Language, the transition from therapist to coach, counselling skills, coaching niches and more.
A degree programme in life coaching will expand your awareness much further than the limited models taught by some coach training institutes and help you discover your own style instead of following template-based approaches. You might even discover how little you were taught If like many coaches, you do not have a degree (or Master s), such a qualification will be a positive addition to your profile.
The exact programme of study will negotiated between the personal tutor and the student after enrolment, depending on amount and type of transfer credit, interests and professional needs. Credit transfer will be given for most coaching trainings and other professional continuing education. The coaching units listed in our list of course units will be used to build a schedule of core studies according to the student s requirements. Other units specifically in coaching may be made available and the student may express a preference for particular textbooks or specialist fields. The student may also select content-rich internet sites of his or her choice, subject to approval, on which course units may be based. If the student is in an ongoing practical training programme with another institution, completed modules of that programme may be submitted for additional credit. You will have the opportunity to devise your own personal project. Last but not least, units may be drawn from any related field and there will be much relevant material in our course listings for psychology, management, personal development, counselling, etc.
You can combine this degree with a Certificate or Diploma in Life Coaching from us or an associated college.

An arrangement with an American institution allows CIU graduates with sufficient credit to gain dual awards from both CIU (Vanuatu) and the USA for the same programme of study. Upon receipt of the CIU award, such graduates may apply for a "US equivalence" diploma from the American institution which can then be given a US Apostille. This second US award is optional and will entail additional fees. Please contact us for further details. This scheme applies to all taught Bachelor's and Master's degrees and to doctoral programmes with a suitable syllabus.
