Calamus International University provides a flexible distance learning MA in Religious Studies with a choice of units from different areas. Please note this is not a Christian programme but focuses on comparative, interfaith, psychological, social and other approaches to religion.
Programmes may start at any time of year, subject to availability of places.
Some of the key areas are as follows:
a comparative religion,
a history of religion/ religious ideas,
a psychology of religion
a psychology of belief and faith
a interfaith studies (mostly Jewish-Christian themes such as looking at the origins of Christianity, Jewish views of Jesus)
a intellectual, mythological and allegorical (non-fundamentalist) approaches to the Bible
a and studies of special topics.

Certain fields are under-represented in our course unit lists but we are able to provide units for them. In particular, we are able to offer units in the following fields for those with a special interest in them:
Jewish Studies (especially cultural and historical studies and reform/ liberal thought)
Holocaust and Anti-Semitism Studies
Spiritualist Studies (including the history of Spiritualism in the USA)
New Religious Movements
Possession and Entity Release
Holistic Philosophy
Spiritual Aspects of Dowsing
Psychoanalytic Studies of Religion
Alternative forms of prayer
There is also the possibility of a certain amount of independent study of topics that you research on your own and on which you write an approved challenge essay (normally 3, 500 words.
A project is optional and the whole degree may be completed by taught units plus challenge essays (subject to approval).

An arrangement with an American institution allows CIU graduates with sufficient credit to gain dual awards
from both CIU (Vanuatu) and the USA for the same programme of study. Upon receipt of the CIU award, such graduates may apply for a "US equivalence" diploma from the American institution which can then be given a US Apostille. This second US award is optional and will entail additional fees. Please contact us for further details. This scheme applies to all taught Bachelor's and Master's degrees and to doctoral programmes with a suitable syllabus.
