This is a Records Management course that is conducted by Kenvision Techniks Ltd, a training consultancy based in Nairobi, Kenya.
The training is focused on the fundamental principles of records management. The trainees are introduced to Information Lifecycle concept from the point of view of electronic records. The three main stages of ILM (Active - Semi-active and Inactive) are discussed in order to ground the learners' understanding of Records Management.
With more and more records turning up in electronic format, a proper understanding of basic computer applications is necessary. This course does not shy away from that. Learners will then be introduced to Records Management Standards such as ISO 15489 and Electronic Records Mannagement policy formulation. Other areas that will be introduced include document version control, document sharing, indexing, electronic filing, electronic archiving, digital storage including a comparison between tape storage and Storage Network Architecture (SAN), avoiding technological obsolescence, records held in legacy applications, metadata, file naming convention, fileplan, etc
