This course is designed to give you the learner a wide range of hands on experience within the construction industry. Course content will include plastering, laminate flooring, carpentry, tiling and plumbing.

Handy Person DIY 30 Days
Any 4 Modules 2, 000* = 500/ Subject - 4 week course
Any 6 Modules 2, 600* = 450/ Subject - 6 week course
Any 8 Modules 3, 200* = 400/ Subject - 8 week course
Any 10 Modules 3, 500* = 350/ Subject - 10 week course

We are keen for anyone interested in a Handyperson course to be able to undertake as many modules as they wish and so have made this as affordable as possible.

Tiling
Health & safety in relation to course tasks.
Tools, methods and techniques relative to course tasks.
Room assessment, measurement and setting out for tiling.
Surface preparation (Wall & Floor)
Information on various tiles, adhesives & grouts.
The mixing of powdered materials.
The correct application of adhesive.
The correct setting of tiles into adhesive.
Measuring, marking and cutting tiles using various techniques.
The grouting and finishing of tiled areas.
Kitchen Fitting
Selecting the right units for a kitchen, reading manufacturers scale drawing and planning of a basic kitchen layout
Marking, setting out and levelling of units to a datum line
Assembling and fixing base and wall units
Practice scribing then cutting of a 45 and/ or 90 degree masons mitres using a work top jig and router
Cutting inserts for sink and hobs in workshops
Hanging doors and templates for fitting of door furniture
Marking, cutting and fixing of cornice, pelmet and plinth
Helath and safety requirement for personnel protective equipment (PPE) the building regulations applicable to kitchen fitting in respect of electrics and water.
Carpentry
How to use hand tools such as chisels, planes etc
How to cut basic joints
Cut and fit Dado rails, architraves, skirting boards and door furniture
Lay laminate flooring
Fit a door lining and/ or frame
