The ABBE Display Energy Certificate qualification will alow you to produce DECs for all public bulildings and help you to develop a career as an energy assessor. A Display Energy Certificate is required for all public sector buildings (schools, council offices etc) over 1000 sqm, reducing to 250 sqm in the near future.

EA7 - Display Energy Certificate

Become a Display Energy Certificate energy assessor. This ABBE Display Energy Certificate qualification will allow you to produce DECs for all public bulildings and help you develop a career as an energy assessor. A Display Energy Certificate is required for all public sector buildings (schools, council offices etc) over 1000 sqm, reducing to 250 sqm in the near future.

DECs show the actual energy usage of a building, its Operational Rating, and helps the public see the energy efficiency of the building. DECs are based on the energy consumption of the building as recorded by gas, electricity and other meters. A DEC should be clearly displayed at all time and is required to be renewed on an annual basis.

A DEC is always accompanied by an Advisory Report that lists cost effective measures to improve the energy rating of the building. The Advisory Report element of a DEC is valid for 7 years.

The Dip DEC Certificate Training Course is structured in 3 parts, these is a two day training course that teaches you the theory behind DECs and the surveys required. Provision of evidence of competency via portfolio of evidence where you undertake 3 case study DECs.
