Training in Soil Science Soil Morphology and Hydric Soils
Soil Morphology For Describing Soils
The primary focus of the course will be to provide an strong introduction to applied soil science, geology, GIS/ GPS and hydrology to undergraduates, graduates, and professionals with a science background. During the course, we will discuss soil science, soil morphology, applications of soil science to stormwater and on-site wastewater disposal, redoximorphic features, hydric soils, regional geology, soil hydrology, and use field water quality monitoring equipment.
Course - 3 days
Soil Morphology- How to Describe and Interpret a Soil Profile
This One-day course will provide and introduction to soil science and soil morphology for the professional, sewage enforcement officier, and educator.
Course - 1 day
Application fo Soil Science to Land-Based Wastewater Disposal and Reuse and Stormwater Management
This workshop will include a summary of the regulations or guidance related to wastewater disposal and stormwater management. The course will include a review of soil morphology, water cycle, Darcy's Law, infiltration, permeability, and the use of the percolation test. The field component will include a review of a soil profile, preparation of a detailed soil morphological description, and developing long-term wastewater or stormwater loading rates.
Course - 1 day
Introduction to Hydric Soils
Introduction to describing hydric soils and introduction to the use of the field indicators for hydric soils and the physiochemcial and biological reactions within the soil ecosystem.
Course 1 - day
Hydric Soils- Field Delineation
Introduction to describing hydric soils and introduction to the use of the field indicators for hydric soils and the physiochemcial and biological reactions within the soil ecosystem and then using these field indictors to identify hydric soils in the field and use tools to monitor water level, anaerboic conditions, and use water quality meters.
