Lessons
The classrooms are located in the residence. They are not purpose-built classrooms, but rooms that have been rearranged for lessons. The course consists of 20 English language lessons per week (50 minutes per lesson), in international classes of up to 15 students. All students take a placement test on their first day to ensure that they are placed at the correct level (there are six levels of study, from beginner to advanced) and at the end of their course they receive a certificate of study. Teachers are all university graduates with recognized TEFL certificates, and are extensively briefed on the particular needs of young learners.

The junior course in Nottingham is designed for 10 to 17- years old. With its safe location within the closed secure campus of Nottingham University, it is ideal for younger students and the average age is usually 13 years old.
The campus
It is a closed, secure campus, which is ideally suited to young learners. It is situated on the campus of the extremely prestigious Nottingham University, founded in 1881, surrounded by parkland. Facilities include bright, modern cafeteria, classrooms, sports facilities, theater for film shows and other activities. Discos and other fun events are also organized for junior students only.
Accommodation
All students are accommodated in single and twin rooms (the school will try to place students according to their preference, but room allocation is subject to availability). All rooms have a wash basin, and toilets and showers are shared with the other students. There are 2 showers and 3 toilets per corridor of 10 rooms. Bed linen and towels are provided. The residence includes a large common room and a laundry room (at an extra cost). The school's staff live on-site, and the residence has its own 24-hour security.
Meals
All meals are provided in the large modern cafeteria within the residence (except on excursions when a packed-lunch is given to all students). Wholesome and varied food is served, special dietary requirements can be catered for but please let us know about these in advance.

Highlights
Activities
A number of activities are available alongside this course, including the sample activities listed below. Please not these may vary and be chargeable.
There is one full-day and one half-day excursion per week. Full-day excursions include London, Cambridge, York and Cadbury's World chocolate factory. Half-day excursions include Sherwood Forest, Matlock Heights and Belvoir Castle.
There is also a full afternoon and evening social programme organized; including a variety of sports (e. g. football, volleyball, basketball, swimming) and other activities (e. g. film shows, discos, bowling, students nights) and visits to local sites of interest. The sports hall and swimming pool are located just 2 minutes walk from the residence.
Supervision & Security
There is a ratio of 1 staff to 10 students usually, and 15 students maximum in peak periods. There also is a nominated member of staff with a first aid certificate. All staff are informed of emergency action plans including contacting the first aid officer, using emergency phone numbers etc... All swimming is supervised by external lifeguards or members of staff who are qualified. Most of the activity monitors are university students doing sports management and it is a requirement for them to be qualified in first aid and life-guarding.
