Critical Thinking : This cornerstone course introduces participants to writing as problem-solving and the importance of critical thinking in writing. In-class exercises are used to help participants flex those mental muscles.

Using Organization and Making Documents Accessible : Organization is often problematic for writers. Several writing theorists have suggested that when considering your audience, the message you wish to convey, and your goals and aims, that organization takes care of itself. In other words, your audience, because of their needs and expectations of the document will partially dictate the organization, as will the content of the message, and the writer s goals and aims (what the writer wishes to accomplish through the message).

Writing Emails : This module focuses on helping writers understand the importance of email; specifically, that like any other written document, emails must be planned, revised, and edited. Also discussed is the role of emails within organizations, companies' approaches to emails, and how writers can create effective emails.

Writing Fundamentals : This course covers the fundamentals of writing effective documents, including analyzing audience and purpose, avoiding "noise," and understanding the rhetorical context, or situation.

Writing Scientific Papers and Reports : This module focuses on using language within a scientific report/paper and on how to make writing clearer and more concise. Focus is also on the various sections of a scientific report and the function of these sections.
