Leor Zolman has been involved in system software development,
system administration and applications development for over 25
years, spanning the CP/M, UNIX and Windows operating systems. In
1979, Leor wrote the BDS C Compiler, the first C development
system targeted exclusively for personal computers. The package
sold some 50,000 copies internationally between 1979 and 1985.
Between 1989 and 1992, Leor served as a member of the technical
staff of R&D Publications, Inc., in Lawrence, KS, where he wrote
columns for the magazines The C Users Journal (now The C/C++
Users Journal), Windows Developer"s Journal and SysAdmin. Duties
there also included internal software development involving Unix
shell scripts and Informix SQL/4GL, internal PC tech support and
configuration of Internet connectivity.
Leor launched into technical training in 1992. He has authored
courses in C and C++, and co-authored beginning and advanced
courses in Java and Unix. Leor"s first book, "Illustrated C" (R&D
Publications, Inc. and Prentice-Hall) a collection of his
tutorial columns from The C/C++ Users Journal, was published in
1992.
Leor"s latest programming project is a Freeware tool for C++
developers named An "STL Error Message Decryptor". Initially
written for Microsoft Visual C++ and now also available for g++
and Comeau C++, this tool simplifies the horrendous error
messages produced by most modern compilers when they encounter
coding errors involving use of the C++ Standard Template Library
(STL). All users of MSVC 6 or 7 (Visual Studio.NET), g++ or
Comeau C++ are invited to download the package (source code is
included) at: www.bdsoft.com/tools/stlfilt.html.
