Safe Work in Confined Space Duration: Three (3) days -A$675 per person(No GST applicable)
The program is delivered over a period of three 8-hour contact days. Four units of competency organised into an off-the-job classroom training program.
The course include Risk Assessment, WHS legislation, Permits, Equipment (includes use and care of Gas Detectors), Emergency Response, SCBA and more.
The program involves training in SCBA(Breathing Apparatus) and Gas test atmospheres competencies additional to the Confined Space competency with a practical skills development module where simulated confined space entry and rescue using SCBA is practised.
Assessment is both practical and a theory test.

common irritants and corrosives including: chlorine, ammonia and acid bases
common flammable gases including: acetylene, petroleum, methane, ethane, propane and butane
narcotics
(explosive range, upper and lower explosive limits)
exposure standards (time weighted average, short term exposure limits, peak limitation values, examination of toxic
effect at the level of a range of flammable gases
conditions under which atmospheres become hazardous
units of measurement used to express concentration of atmospheric contaminants (mg/ cubic m. ppm, v/ v).
Underpinning gas monitoring skills must include interpretation and communication of the results of sampling.
Breathing apparatus and limitations - competence must be demonstrated in accordance with AS/ NZ 1715 & 1716:

movement in conditions or reduced visibility

This program is delivered over a period of 8 contact hours and involves a review of the theory involved in Confined Space entry using the Learning Guide, Safe Work in Confined Spaces, provided. Assessment is both practical and a theory test.
For SCBA re certification you must additionally attend a 4hr SCBA course (See Operate Breathing Apparatus course below).
Competencies Issued: NWP219A or RIIOHS202A.
Certification includes a Nationally Recognised Confined Space Statement of Attainment and a plastic wallet card upon successful completion of the course.
