- R asked: I am a FPGA developer/HW engineer. We are starting to think about utilizing NIOS II soft core processor in our work. I know that there are "free" uCLinux ports available for this processor but they require a UNIX/Linux background in order to understand how to build the tool chain and compile the kernel before beginning application development. To what extent is this course targeting people like me? I have C programming background with embedded systems albeit most of my work has been on the HW side of the equation. I also have developed x assembly code for a spectrometer system that I had developed years earlier. I want to be able to take the uCLinux port, compile it, modify the drivers if neccesary, understand the kernel and what it supports, and develop applications for it.
