- asked: Hi! We own a six month border collie named Nellie. She was a show dog and because she found showing stressful we acquired her. She is a beautiful dog; affectionate and loyal. We have had her for four week She was timid and insecure when we first brought her home but she is more settled and a wonderful companion. I have begun training her but when we meet other dogs who bark at her she responds by barking, pulling on the lead and no matter how I try to calm her she doesn't respond until we have passed that situation . It is not an aggressive bark and she is not vicious, the tail is wagging while she is pulling and barking. I've tried to calm her by walking away then having her sit while I talk calmly to her. I think it is a timidity on her part and also my inexperience in not showing leadership. Can you give me some strategies to help? She also barks at neighbours and children's noises next door. After a period of time she calms down and is friendly. Could it be the suddenness of the noise that disturbs her? regards; June about Dog Training Courses, Help with Behaviour and Behaviour Advice

- S asked: I have a year old rescue greyhound dog who has a fear of people (apart from me) and children. I've had him months and although he relates very well to me - and my two cats - he still trembles, tries to hide and won't eat if another human being is around. We meet the same people on our walks, all friendly, but he won't have anything to do with them. I don't fuss him when he's nervous, just act confident and normal but there has been no change. I have grandchildren and would very much like to find a way to help my dog - his name is Silver - to be more confident. Many thanks, about Dog Behaviour Advice

- T asked: My month old border terrier male has gradually become more and more aggressive with other dogs, especially large males, to the point that i am now having to take him for walks at .am in secluded areas to prevent him from viciously going for other dogs. In every other way he is a delight and pretty obedient. I recently got bitten by him as i tried to remove him from another dog and i am now concerned that i cannot take him out for walks with my grandchildren in case they get caught up in his aggression to other dogs. This behaviour is now spoiling the wonderful times that we used to have out walking. He has been to training classes when younger and this was a problem then but it has worsened as he has got older. Any advice welcome about Dog Behaviour Advice
