- asked: Hello. My name is Dave Griffiths. I'm a Vietnam veteran (which helps if you're looking for federal contracts) and journalist and teacher with years experience from covering national security for Business Week magazine to Penn State. I work now as an independent contractor doing writing training, media relations training and presentation skills training. I'm also a member of three school boards in Maine, and for seven or eight years, I've been teaching a course for teachers who have trouble getting their students to write. I found your name in the Central Contractor Registry. Please keep me in mind if you would like some help with training. As you'll see on my website ((login required) davegriffithscommunications. com), I've worked with everyone from the Small Business Administration to Navy SEALs to the Department of Homeland Security, as well as a host of private companies and nonprofits. I've also done media relations training, and you'll find a testimonial on my website. I've developed a way to use that training to help clients sharpen their marketing message. My writing and presentation skills training focuses on: -- Viewing effective communications as a key management and organizational tool. -- Knowing your audience. -- Taking full advantage of the fact that "writing is thinking." (In the case of presentation skills training, I shun PowerPoint, preferring eye-to-eye contact and conversational style with the lights on.) -- Editing and revising meticulously (quality control). My media training is based on videotaped role-playing and has value for sharpening one's pitch. There's nothing like an aggressive and inquisitive reporter to help you find hidden flaws and strengths in your message. I can provide many references. If you know of anyone in your office who wants to receive a monthly newsletter on writing, media relations and presentation skills, please let me know. Thank you for your time.
