Train-the Trainer Workshop:
The Mercury 30hrs Train-the-Trainer Workshop will be facilitated by knowledgeable and
experienced Merquri facilitators.
Upon conclusion of Merquri s Train-the-Trainer program, participants will use Adult Learning Theory and the ADDIE Instructional Design Model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) to design/facilitate corporate training products/services.
Topics covered include:
o Adult Learning Theory
o Needs Assessment
o Design & Development
o Implementation & Presentation
Each participant may elect to bring a new or existing non-proprietary project that they could Create /refine /improve upon over the course of the 30 Hrs by applying new concepts, as well as having the opportunity to be evaluated by facilitators during the sessions.
The workshop will be approximately 75 hands-on involving a variety of activities to enhance the learning experience. Participants will make 2 presentations that will be videotaped. They will receive both individual and group feedback on their presentations.
To facilitate the participative environment, there will be approximately 3 - 4 hours of required Pre work.
Target Audience:
Have training activities included in their job accountabilities on a full- or part-time basis.
Freshers who want to take up training as a Career.
Are responsible for some stand-up training.
In all likelihood, have had some college education but lack a formal education in adult learning principles, instructor competencies, and/or instructional design competencies.

Session One: Introduction and Welcome
1. List the workshop ground rules
2. Explain the group s workshop expectations
3. Describe the group s current TTT Topic 1-5 proficiency levels
4. State the overall TTT workshop objectives
5. Identify each other by first name
6. Identify each TTT project
Adult Learning Theory
1. List learning theories/concepts
2. Explain how these twelve learning theories/concepts contribute to enhancing learning and performance for adult learners
3. Explain how adult learning theory can be incorporated into professional skills curriculums
4. Identify which learning theories you will incorporate into your TTT project
5. Incorporate adult learning principles into your curriculum(s) to enhance learning and Performance
Session Two: Needs Assessment
1. Define the components of a training needs analysis
2. Describe the importance of conducting a training needs analysis prior to the design and development of training
3. Explain the process of analyzing individual and organizational performance
4. Identify the causes of performance gaps and possible interventions
5. Define goal analysis
6. Define task analysis
7. Describe the analysis of target audience and subject matter
8. Describe tools with which to conduct the various components of training needs analysis
9. Assimilate data gathered from the needs analysis to design terminal objectives
Design & Development part one on Session Two; continues to Session Three
1. Define a learning objective and discuss its purposes and structure.
2. Construct a learning objective that meets given objective criteria.
3. List and explain Events of Instruction
4. List and discuss the 6 levels in Bloom s Taxonomy
5. Use your knowledge of Gagne s 9 Events of Instruction and Bloom s Taxonomy to plan
a training module design based on the learning objective you wrote.
6. Determine what steps you will consider in developing your training design.
Session THREE: Implementation & Presentation
1. Specify the procedures that relate to the scheduling, communication, registration, and Collection /distribution of results for the training event.
2. Describe how you would schedule the training event, communicate the event to the target audience and their leaders, register participants, and collect/distribute results for the training event.
3. Prepare for delivery by practicing and inspecting the equipment and room readiness beforehand.
4. Determine and set participant expectations for the training session.
5. Present in clear language with a tone of voice, personal appearance, and mannerisms that fit the topic(s), participants, and occasion.
6. Engage the participants with effective interaction techniques, including questioning techniques, small group interaction, and the handling/minimizing of disruptions or other challenging situations.
7. Operate presentation equipment and supporting media effectively.
8. Effectively control time to achieve training objectives and adjust the training presentation when required by circumstances (reduction in allotted time, agenda changes, etc).
