WORLDwrite
WORLDwrite is an education charity with an award winning film facility and training programme and now an online news channel called WORLDbytes. We train young people in all aspects of film making and news programming.
The charity provides volunteers with well structured professional help in all areas from camera to DVD authoring to interview techniques, to presenting and even writing articles to accompany the films. All by a talented pool of peripatetic tutors. We now have 5 DVCAM cameras, 5 mini DV cameras, 4 AVID editing suites, a dedicated studio we have refurbished complete with blue screen back drop, auto cue, sound mixer and big screen for viewings. While we never have enough space or cameras or equipment and maintenance and upgrades are expensive, we are nonetheless able to tutor up to 30 young volunteers at any one time at our centre in Hackney, London.
We have developed a really successful format for training days which include intensive learning and practice with shoots for actual programmes.
We offer this training constantly to ensure volunteers have the right resources (or as much as we can afford) and the right support to produce film programmes that take up issues of local and global inequality, tackle disadvantages and celebrates what's good in a creative way.

WORLDwrite is a UK based education charity (No 1060869) which started in February 1991, gained charitable status in 1997, was DfES registered as an NVYO and won UN DPI NGO accreditation in 1999. WORLDwrite develops and provides educational projects and programmes which challenge contemporary prejudice and stereotypes, promote local and global understanding and assist young people to develop new skills using their own experiences, concerns and ideas. Today we do this by working with young people to create documentaries, news programmes and tours of East London. WORLDwrite is a vibrant voluntary sector provider with a small but professional staff team facilitating unique new media based projects for volunteers.
WORLDwrite now has a paid staff team of 2 full time Directors, a part time Volunteer Coordinator and a large number of volunteers with lead roles and a direct say in the running of all projects. The charity has a pool of 17 peripatetic tutors experts in all aspects of video and filmmaking. The charity directly benefits approximately 2, 000 people each year through its programmes and educational resources, including free film training. WORLDwrite also has a growing impact and following of thousands through its online presence with the charity s website and news channel.

: WORLDbytes, the online alternative News channel, has organised a film & TV training opportunity specifically for unemployed 16 to 25 year olds, or students looking for a job, who want to have their say about unemployment and put the case for more jobs and less spin. Participants will learn all aspects of camera, sound, lighting & presenting and shoot actual programmes for broadcast. No skills or previous experience is required and all travel expenses will be paid and meals provided over an exciting three days of shooting in London.
Young people are told they are 'guaranteed' a job or training if they're more...
