WORLDwrite s new programmes for 2007
WORLDwrite is running an ambitious series of new programmes in 2007 for young volunteers to get their teeth into and make an impact.
Shoot for All Volunteers
This is a cutting edge campaigning programme for young volunteers aged 16-25 who feel strongly about global inequality, want to make an impact and use film to do it. Free professional, documentary film training is provided one evening per week in Hackney, East London with some weekend shoots. The course is taught by TV and film professionals and tutors. Working to broadcast standard, all volunteers form crews, from research to sound, camera, lighting, presenting, editing to producing and directing, there are no shortage of roles, new skills to learn or opportunities to use existing skills. Each crew will work on a short film investigating contemporary themes from global travel to racism to volunteering itself using East London behind the scenes as laboratory and location. This is a twenty session programme for volunteers who want to make their mark with WORLDwrite and do more than learn the ropes. Accreditation will be available for all volunteers who put in at least 60 hours. After the programme volunteers can chose to stay on and develop editing skills, design accompanying websites, global appeals, press campaigns and promotion or hand over the reins to new volunteers when the job s done. Films produced will feature on line and on screen and merge with a programme of alternative tours- on foot, online and on film for visitors to London in the run up to the Olympics. Numerous non-film based volunteer roles and opportunities are also available
