Dr. Binod Kumar is internationally known Management Consultant and Trainer. At present he is Chairman and Chief Mentor of BK Center for Living in Harmony Pvt. Ltd. and also Chairman, NCTE (Northern Regional Committee) of the Government of India. Prior to this assignment Dr. Kumar was a Professor and Head of Behavioral Sciences Group at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, Executive President, Maharishi Institutes of Management in India (NOIDA, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Lucknow), Director of I.M.T. Ghaziabad, Director FORE School of Management, Program Specialist at Colombo Plan Staff College Singapore etc. He started his career as a Lecturer in Psychology at Ranchi University and Research Associate (Center for International Affairs) Harvard University from 1963. Prof. Kumar has lectured and done consultancy almost all over the globe.
Dr. Kumar did his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Psychology and Psychometrics from Northern Illinois University, Illinois, U.S.A. He wrote his Master s thesis under Prof. S.M. Mohsin and Doctoral thesis under Prof. Marvin Powell. Both the researches led to the development of new discoveries/theories in Organizational Psychology and Psychometrics. He has received number of awards and distinctions like University merit-scholarship for standing first in the University, Fulbright Scholarship, Ford Foundation Fellowship, U.N.D.P. Fellowship in International Management, Alpha Kappa Delta, Phi Delta Kappa (two most prestigious fraternities in U.S.A.), Fellow, World University of peace, Rashtriya Gaurav Award, Rastriya Ekta Purashkar,Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award etc. Has number of articles, research papers and books to his credit. Guided two Ph.D. students and examined quite a number of Doctoral and Master thesis on Indian and foreign universities.
He has organized, as Programme Director, more than 500 programmes for participants up to the rank of Chief Executives of Corporations and Secretaries to the Government. Has lectured in numerous training programmes (thousands) in India and abroad. Mr. Pranay Kumar brings with him a unique combination of administration and academics as a teacher, trainer, researcher and consultant. He started his career 12 years ago as in-charge of training in a consulting organization in Calcutta directly reporting to the CEO who was a name in the field of technology and management. From there he moved to Delhi and become the head of HR function at the national headquarter of an organization controlling five Management Schools in India, besides hundreds of high schools. He was responsible for recruitment, training and manpower evaluation. After this he joined as head of a department of the top-ten School of Management in India. Here he taught MBA students and conducted several workshops and self-growth laboratories. He had earned a name especially for orientation programme to young MBA entrants. At present, Mr. Kumar is Director of BK Centre for Living in Harmony Pvt. Ltd. The Living in Harmony group primarily deals with training and consultancy in the area of psychology, management and education. The group has a full-time and part-time consortium of some of the globally experienced and renowned psychologist, educationist and management experts.
During the last 12 years, Mr. Pranay Kumar has trained not only MBA students and did counselling for them, but also trained officers of all levels up to the CEO of different organizations and Secretaries to Government. He is found to be equally at ease with MBA students, junior management and top management participants. He has lectured in different parts of India. He is in Teaching, Training, Research and Consultancy in Management, Education, and Psychology for over four decades including 26 years with prestigious IIM Calcutta.
Health care Management and Rural Development:
Dr. Kumar along with one of our associates Dr M S Mishra of IIM Calcutta have organized and lectured in several hundred programmes on Health care Management, Rural Development and NGOs. They created special center for this at IIM Calcutta and publish papers and books. Their contribution in these sectors has been for more than 30 years.
Cooperative sectors:
Dr Kumar along with Pranay Kumar have conducted several programs on Cooperative sectors.
Psychometrics:
In this area Dr Kumar has developed tests ant conducted Competency Mapping in India and abroad. He conducted competency mapping for whole of Maruti Udyog and part of MTNL and developed selection tests for host of organizations. He did consultancy on this area in India, U S, Canada and other countries .He is one of the founding fathers of CAT (Common Admissions Test) for selection of management students. In the area of personality blocks analysis and intervention for unblocking he is rated to be on of the authorities.
Education management:
Dr Kumar started first Center for Management of Education System at IIM Calcutta in 1974 and remained its Chairman for 20 years. He conducted number of programmes for all levels of Educational Administrators. . The Center received grant from Govt of India, The Ford Foundation, British council etc. Recently in the month of February 2006 Pranay Kumar presented research paper in an international conference. His paper on Curriculum Delevepment and Sequencing for Applied Sciences received highest appreciation.
Recently in May 2006 Govt of India honored Dr Kumar by making him Chairman of The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).for Northern Region. Dr Kumar has been involved in educational planning not only in India but other countries (e.g. U S, Canada) also.
Stress Management:
Mr. Pranay Kumar has been in this area for more than 10 years serving as head of the Center in a renowned Business school and earlier with a global chain of education system.
Center for International Management:
Dr Kumar was the Chairman of the UNDP funded Center for International Management at IIM Calcutta and with a grant from UNDP.he visited USA and Canada in relation to the project. He has conducted programme all over the world. To name a few are: Australia,China,Canada,USA,Japan,Cambodia.Singapur,Malaysia,Thailand etc.
Some of the recent activities of the Center:
Conducted MDP recently on Managing for Excellence through Strategic Leadership and Team Synergy . Participants were from top organizations like Indian Airlines, MTNL, NTPC, Cyber Media India LTd, Simplex concret pile, Ministry of Defence, Radico Khaitan etc. This was inaugurated by President of a University in Toronto, Canada. 100 participants rated this program to be excellent.
Dr Kumar convened an international seminar in February 2006 on Developing Talent for Global Achievement. Participants came from number of countries.
Conducted a program jointly with Quest H.R Solution Sdn. Bhd. of Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur for Tenaga National Berhard ( TNB) of Malaysia.
Involved in project to start a University at Melaka, Malaysia
Involved in a project to set up MIDS University in California USA. Group already has a University in Canada.
