SOFT s one year programme enables students to gain specialist design and technical expertise relevant to a range of fashion activities. Design of womenswear, menswear and childrenswear features in a variety of modules, with students developing their work from initial design concept through to the finished garment.
This one-year develops fundamental fashion design skills, historical, cultural studies, computer-aided design and several optional modules including bra/basques, knitwear, and style and color prediction. This provides professional attributes and skills for various roles within this challenging and exciting industry. The major final project gives students an opportunity to set their own briefs and produce a final collection of garments.

The fashion design course aims to produce professional designers who are equipped to exploit the career opportunities available in the broad field of fashion, and who are keen to respond to the challenges of designing for a better future. This course is primarily concerned with women s wear, menswear and, where appropriate at level three, children s wear design. It is project and studio based and the course integrates design, technology and theory, and actively promotes each student s creative potential. All projects are undertaken in answer to the given brief, which always allows for individual character, style and interpretation.
This course cover an impressive range of aesthetic, cultural and informational material through periodicals, journals, books, CD-ROM and related websites. Additionally, students have access to specialist IT and computer-aided design and manufacturing facilities. Skills, historical, cultural studies, computer-aided design and several optional modules including Innerware, knitwear, and style and color prediction. This provides professional attributes and skills for various roles within this challenging and exciting industry.
