Orions Scope Orion Training & Performance Management is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) recognised under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) by the Training Recognition Council. Orion is listed on the National Training Information Service National Provider No. 30915 and is required to operate in accordance with the national principles, standards & protocols that make up the AQTF. Orion is registered to train in and issue Nationally Recognised Qualifications, throughout Australia and overseas. Orion became a registered training organisation (RTO) in 2003 with a scope of registration in Business and Financial Services. Shortly thereafter Orion s application to provide training and assessment under the PS146 guidelines was approved and registered on the ASIC training register. Orion further extended its scope of registration and now offers nationally accredited qualifications in Hospitality Operations, Competitive Manufacturing and Workplace Training and Assessment. Delivering a range of qualifications demonstrates Orion s strength in the vocational education and training sector. Orions Team CEO Suzanne Manwill leads the Orion s Team. Suzanne has been instrumentally involved with all Australian Government educational compliance and the registration of Orion Training and Performance Management as a nationally and internationally accredited training provider. Suzanne has accumulated over 15 years experience developing Teaching and Assessment courses in the field of recruitment and human resource development. She has managed projects for TMP Hudson Worldwide and Kelly Services International working with top corporations such as Westpac Banking Corporation Ltd, Telstra Ltd, Grand United, 20th Century Fox Studios and ING Direct. Suzanne has consulted to the Singapore government and banking institution in the development and implementation of their financial services compliance framework. Suzanne is strongly supported by a team of experienced staff including a qualified Financial Controller, Compliance Manager, Business Development Manager and Administration support team. Training and assessment services are conducted by qualified trainers with many years experience in their chosen field of expertise. Key Services Work based training in various short course topics and Nationally Accredited Qualifications Skills assessment including recognition of prior learning Classroom training Customised training in both accredited and non-accredited courses Performance appraisal and management Performance monitoring Business coaching (all levels) Training and assessment services Orion offers a range of delivery methods as follows: Assessment only (or Recognition of Prior Learning - RPL) - Students who consider that they are already competent in one or more of the units of competency in this qualification have the right to have that competence recognised without participating in a learning process. This pathway requires the student to demonstrate current competence or provide evidence of prior learning (including in-house training). Credit Transfer may be granted for units of competency previously completed within the qualification framework. Students are supported throughout the process by Orion staff. On-the-job This delivery mode will include a combination of one-on-one trainer led theory sessions and self-paced practical activities to reinforce the student s learning. Students will be allocated a certain amount of time in between trainer visits to complete each of the practical activities. This time will depend on the student s ability and workplace influences and will be scheduled prior to the commencement of training delivery. Anticipated assessment dates will also be scheduled prior to the commencement of training, but will remain flexible according to the student s progress. Distance learning This delivery mode involves the use of self-paced training manuals to provide the relevant training and assessment tasks. Trainer support will be available by telephone and/ or email throughout the duration of the qualification. Completed activities and assessment tasks will be submitted to the trainer via post or email. Time frames for the completion of activities will be negotiated between the student and trainer, allowing for workplace influences. Anticipated assessment dates will also be scheduled prior to the commencement of training, but will remain flexible according to the student s progress. Training and assessment materials The standards and regulations governing the VET sector in Australia change on a regular basis. Orion continually upgrades its training and assessment material to keep abreast of these changes. Our course developers have extensive practical industry experience and recognise that not all businesses are the same. We endeavour to tailor our training and assessment materials to suit the needs of the business. Student database Orion uses a student database called VETTRAK purpose built for RTOs to track students training and achievements from enrolment through to completion. VETTRAK provides flexibility in its reporting structure and can be tailored to report throughout the training and assessment process. We stress however that our mission is to keep students on track through personal encouragement. Recruitment services Orion has a separate department specialising in assessment of employability skills and attributes to support the recruitment process. This service holds many advantages for employers in finding the right person for a specific role, fast tracking training and further developing an individual in advancing in the organisation. Our processes provide employers the opportunity to get a new employee up and running in their role quicker by integrating each stage of their progression from recruitment through to the completion of training.
