RSI s Services
Custom Written Safety Programs, including Behavior Based Safety Programs:
RSI provides both General Safety Plans and Site-specific Safety Plans that are required to meet current FCC and OSHA regulations. RSI writes custom safety programs that are available to all personnel at any time there is a question of how to proceed in a specific hazardous activity or environment The programs should state in exact terms what the hazard is, the proper PPE/ PPM, under which situations or what particular sites the PPE/ PPM should be used, the required amount of training before use, the limitations of the device and a plethora of other information designed to protect the worker by giving them the perfect amount of necessary intellectual and physical tools to perform work activities safely. Companies with potential for employee exposure to hazards are required to have a safety program.
Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) RSI s standard Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) evaluation can be a useful tool in determining whether a particular site needs further assessment, or if an installation of a transmitting device will cause concerns as to safety at a site. This evaluation can also be used as part of a site database or inventory. Inventories are desirable at all sites to meet OSHA guidelines as well as to maintain pertinent records for site management. Properly updated and maintained MPE evaluations included in a site inventory can be utilized as part of a complete safety program and hazard analysis. While RSI s standard MPE evaluation gives you all the basic data required for determining the MPE for your transmitter, RSI s MPE 4. 1 (graphical report) was created due to the demand for a report which a person other than an RF engineer could read and understand which gives much more information regarding the regulations and what the data means.
Electromagnetic Hazard Assessment: RSI conducts this assessment after the MPE data indicates a site has levels of RF that surpass the limits imposed by the FCC controlled/ uncontrolled standard. It can also be used to designate the rest or cool down areas within the site. The MPE, in addition to determining emissions compliance, is done, in part, so that the certified employees or Field Service Representatives can be aware of hot spots and safely conduct the assessment as well as to protect the measurement instrumentation. The RSI assessment is performed to detect the precise amount of RF radiation present at a particular site. This is done so workers or other persons with access to the site are aware of the particular areas of the site that have high levels of EME present. The subsequent report of this information is kept in the client s files to document proof of their efforts to detect the amount of RF at a site. This shows due-diligence by the company to government agencies such as the FCC, OSHA, state and local entities.
RF Hazard Signs: RSI offers a complete range of signs, notifying persons in both Controlled and Uncontrolled environments about the existence of RF hazard. Made of the highest quality non-conductive material, RSI s signs are appropriately worded and competitively priced.
